Pelvis and Perineum: Module 2 - Nerves, Vessels and Lymphatic Drainage

OBJECTIVES:

END1.1.7 Know the spinal cord origins of the nerves supplying the pelvis and perineum.

END1.1.8 Trace the course of the pudendal nerve and its branches to all structures in the perineum.

END1.1.9 Describe the arterial supply and venous drainage of structures of the pelvis and perineum.

END1.1.10 Identify the lymphatic drainage pathways for pelvic and perineal organs.

END1.1.11 Locate the sites of major lymph nodes receiving lymphatic drainage from pelvic and perineal regions. (Including those not visible on the 3D model.)

	Begin with the completed pelvis.
	Add the sciatic nerve and lumbar plexus branches. Rotate the cadaver to visualize the full course of the sciatic nerve as it exits through the greater sciatic foramen.
	Add the lumbosacral trunk. This trunk is formed by contributions from L4-L5 and is critical for connecting the lumbar and sacral nerve plexuses.
	Add the sacral spinal nerves (S1-S4), which give rise to several key pelvic nerves.

The coccygeal plexus (S5-Co1) is too small to be seen in the 3D model.
