Female Pelvis and Genitalia: Module 1 - Page 5 of 7

Now add the adnexal structures and associated gonadal vasculature of the female reproductive system.

Add the uterine (fallopian) tubes.
Add the fimbriae of the uterine tubes, also called ovarian fimbriae.
Add the ovaries.
Add the ovarian arteries. Like the testicular arteries in males, the ovarian arteries arise directly from the abdominal aorta.
Add the ovarian veins. And, like the testicular veins in males, the right ovarian vein drains into the inferior vena cava while the left ovarian vein drains into the left renal vein
Add the ovarian ligaments, which connect each ovary to the uterus.
Add the suspensory ligament of the ovary, also called the infundibulopelvic ligament.

These "ligaments" are peritoneal ligaments, rather than "true ligaments". These are extraperitoneal folds that contain the ovarian arteries, veins, lymphatics, and nerves. An embryology text will explain the development of peritoneal formations in greater detail.
