Begin with the vertebral column.

Discuss the various segments of the vertebral column and how they differ in structure and function.

Using the Highlight tool, highlight each cervical vertebra one by one, noting its orientation and appearance on the transverse, sagittal, and coronal cross-sections.

Pay attention to local anatomical relationships by scrolling through the various cross-sections. When focusing on a particular plane, it may be helpful to add that cross-section to the 3D model.

	What structures pass through the transverse foramen (foramen transversarium)?
The vertebral artery, vertebral vein, and sympathetic nerve fibers.

	All cervical verebrae have a transverse foramen, but the contents are distinctive in one of them. Which one?
The vertebra prominens, or seventh cervical vertebra (C7). In the C7 vertebra, the transverse foramen typically only transmits the vertebral vein and sympathetic fibers. The vertebral arteries usually enters the cervical transverse foramina of C6.
