Begin with the back vertebral column and skull.

The Suboccipital Group

Add the rectus capitis posterior minor.
Add the rectus capitis posterior major.
Add the obliquus capitis superior.
Add the obliquus capitis inferior.

The Segmental Back Muscles

Add the intertransversarii group.
Add the interspinales group.
Add the levatores costarum group.

The Deep Transversospinales Muscles

Add the rotatores group which helps with rotation of the spine. This group has cervicis, thoracis and lumborum sub-groups.
Add the multifidus.
Add the semispinalis group which has a subgroup (semispinalis capitus) which, when contracted, bilaterally extends the head posteriorly. When contracting unilaterally, assists in turning the head. The ere are also cervicis and thoracis subgroups.
