Add the costal cartilages.

Note: The costal cartilages of ribs 7-10 connect to the cartilage above them rather than directly to the sternum. These are considered false ribs.

Add the sternum to complete the anterior thoracic wall.

Identify the components of the sternum using the highlight and/or pin tools to reveal the labels:

Manubrium

Sternal angle (or Angle of Louis)

Sternal body

Xyphoid process

	Add the false ribs. Ribs 7-10 share cartilaginous connections. Ribs 11-12 do not connect to the sternum or other ribs and are thus called floating ribs. They only articulate with the vertebral column.
	Rotate the donor model by 180 degrees to confirm these relationships.
	Review the articulations between the ribs and the thoracic vertebral column.
